You can still view our plans online or request paper copies be sent to your home, but following updated government advice on managing the Coronavirus pandemic all deposit locations and information points are now closed.

Telephone Consultation event

We are holding a consultation telephone event on Wednesday 25 March from 2pm to 8pm. Call us on 020 3787 4300.

This will be for members of the public who had planned to go to the cancelled events to speak to a member of our project team about the changes we are consulting upon.

We will also post out the Guide to the Supplementary Consultation, the Response Form and a Freepost return envelope on request by emailing us at info@lowerthamescrossing.co.uk or calling on 0300 123 5000.

Update - 19/03/2020

Given the current situation with Coronavirus and the measures the Government has put in place we have prepared an update on the Lower Thames Crossing Supplementary Consultation.

The Lower Thames Crossing Supplementary Consultation is open until 23.59 on Thursday 2 April. You can still view our plans online or request paper copies be sent to your home, but following updated government advice on managing the Coronavirus pandemic all deposit locations and information points are now closed.

We have taken the decision to extend the consultation until 23.59 on Thursday 2 April. Secondly, we will be opening a public consultation telephone service (020 3787 4300) between 2pm and 8pm on Monday 23 March and Wednesday 25 March. We will publish details of how this will work later this week on our website – www.lowerthamescrossing.co.uk.

This is an unprecedented and unsettling time and we want to thank you for your patience as we seek to manage the inevitable disruption we are all facing and the important work that must continue. This means we are having to work in different ways and use alternative approaches.

The development of the Lower Thames Crossing and other infrastructure projects will play an important role as the country seeks to recover from the wide range of impacts we face. It is critical that we maintain the progress of our projects and keep the momentum of delivery.

About this guide

At the end of 2018, we held the most comprehensive consultation Highways England has ever undertaken. Almost 29,000 people shared their views on our proposals for the Lower Thames Crossing, a new road connecting Kent, Thurrock and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames.

We’ve reviewed the feedback received through our previous consultation and have continued to progress our designs ahead of submitting a Development Consent Order application later this year.

It is vital we get all aspects of the design, construction and operation of the crossing right to ensure we can minimise its impacts and maximise its benefits. We would now like to hear your views on our proposed changes to the route.

This is the latest stage in the planning process and is an opportunity for you to have your say. The following pages outlines the changes to the route, provides project updates, explains how to give your feedback and details the planning process we will go through before the final decision is made by the Secretary of State for Transport.
